Young People

EdTech & Grassroots

16th Jun 2020

Founders4Schools is an award-winning educational-tech charity which connects students to inspirational role models to improve their aspirations, to help fulfil their potential and to prepare them for the rapidly changing world of work.
The F4S digital platform acts as a two sided marketplace; both enabling educators to organise a range of student-employer encounters with inspiring business leaders and giving businesses a flexible and impactful way for their employees to volunteer in their local communities. Their aim is to open up opportunities for young people who lack access to professional role models and to bridge the gap that exists between young people and business in order to create a talent pipeline to close the skills gap.
With the schools and college closures and careers education slipping down the list of teachers’ priorities, Founders4Schools believes that it is more important than ever to continue giving young people the opportunity to explore future career options. As such, they moved quickly to adapt their services.

Interactive Online Webinars

In response to the COVID-19 crisis, Founders4Schools are offering free careers guidance for young people through interactive webinars, with business leaders from a range of industries. Speakers have so far included a role model event from Federico Marchetti, Chairman and CEO of Yoox Net a Porter, a fireside chat with Nick Kuennsberg, Chairman of the Royal Conservatoire, Scotland and a Maths4Girls event with Dinika Mahtani, former General Manager at Uber JUMP.

These sessions are helping develop young people’s employability skills and career ambitions, whilst adding much-needed interest and inspiration in their current daily routines. Research has shown that when students hear from role-models, especially those who may lack access to them in their home environment, their aspirations and attainment is higher.

All of the webinars are recorded and can be streamed at any time from the Founders4Schools website and YouTube channel, giving the educators and parents a valuable resource when planning remote learning.

“F4S have received an overwhelmingly positive response, with net promoter scores of 70 and above and the majority of young people saying that the sessions helped them to think about their future career options and that they would be likely to recommend it to a friend.”

As this is a new service, Founders4Schools are eager to gain feedback and make improvements to support students and teachers as much as possible during this time. To that end, they would be very grateful if you could take a few minutes to fill out their parent survey or teacher survey.
